  • AAMC Coronavirus resources for the academic community. Find information and updates from AAMC on this emerging global health concern.

  • Academic Medicine Collection of COVID-19 articles. This collection features articles and thought pieces on the novel coronavirus, its impact on medical education, and medical education’s response to it.

  • The Society for Simulation in Healthcare comprehensive resources for general and COVID-19 related simulation. Includes resources from corporate roundtable members and SSH affiliates.
  • Clinical Teaching and Learning Experiences without Physical Patient Contact. This resource collection was built in response to the COVID-19 pandemic’s significant impact on the teaching and learning of health professionals. Designed by diverse educators, this working collection features clinical learning experiences, which can be readily used or easily adapted for specific, local settings, without the need for physical patient contact.
  • ACGME Response to Pandemic Crisis - circumstances of teaching hospitals.

  • Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) has compiled web based resources to help family medicine faculty continue to provide quality education to residents and students, while at the same time being attentive to patients and communities. The topics include distance learning, telemedicine, supervision, faculty resources, US and world trackers, and wellness.

  • A new resource guide from Upstate Health Sciences Library

  • COVID-19 Resources for Healthcare Providers, Families, and Leadership. By Med-Ed Web, Well-Being Index team, made up of thought leaders, healthcare associates, technology experts, and content creators dedicated to improving well-being by equipping organizations with the tools and data needed to go beyond burnout.

  • UUP has set up a COVID-19 resource page for members. Members will find important benefits information and announcements from UUP President Fred Kowal, as well as links to a number of health resources, including the New York State Department of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Remote curriculum development and content

  • MedED Portal Virtual Learning resources: Self-directed modules that can be used to supplement clinical and pre-clinical teaching and learning; Interactive Sessions and standardized patient cases that can be conducted via videoconference.
  • National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education. The Resource Center is a digital library of interprofessional practice and education-related content. Anyone with a registered account can contribute to the resource center and comment on a resource’s usefulness.
  • Stanford University’s guide provides suggested actions to take quickly when making the shift from teaching in a classroom to teaching anywhere.
  • Powtoon.com —Create “Awesome videos and presentations.” Free version available. This was used to create the promotion and educator portfolio videos on our website.
  • Upstate Educational Communications, providing the Upstate Medical University community with a broad range of educational technology and media services.

  • The Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE) has compiled web resources for educators including innovative and fascinating new methods of teaching, learning and assessment, many of which can be found on their websites and social media platforms.

Professional development

  • Upstate is working collaboratively with University of Central Florida and can now provide access to several online faculty modules. Free CME with registration.

  • PodCasts

    The Faculty Factory is a faculty development community that shares tools to build academic leaders. Faculty Factory snippets are now available and specifically designed for faculty members. Episodes are brief (averaging less than 20 minutes) and are easily accessed through the Faculty Factory website, YouTube Channel and your favorite podcast app. New episodes drop every Friday and topics have included: tips for dealing with uncertainty in uncertain times; guided meditation; time management; finance basics; proactive mentorship; career & time management; finishing the paper; self-determination theory; bringing joy to the workplace; education competencies; and difficult conversations.
